How to Generate App Password for Gmail SMTP

If you want to connect Gmail with SMTP, you need to generate an App Password (not your regular Gmail password).

 
Steps

  1.  

    Enable 2-Step Verification on your Gmail account (mandatory for app passwords).

    •  

      Go to your Google Account Security Settings.

    •  

      Under "Signing in to Google", click 2-Step Verification and turn it on.

  2.  

    Go to App Passwords

    •  

      After enabling 2-Step Verification, return to Security Settings.

    •  

      Under "Signing in to Google", select App passwords.

  3.  

    Generate a new App Password

    •  

      Choose App → Select Mail.

    •  

      Choose Device → Select your device (e.g., Windows, Mac, Other).

    •  

      Click Generate.

  4.  

    Copy the 16-character password

    •  

      Google will display a 16-character password.

    •  

      Copy it carefully (no spaces).

  5.  

    Use this App Password in your SMTP settings

    •  

      Username: Your Gmail address.

    •  

      Password: The App Password generated above.
